Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Clippers vs. Pistons odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Clippers lead 1-0.
LA routed the Brooklyn Nets 121-105 on Friday while covering as a 5.5-point road favorite as the Over (214.5) cashed. James Harden and Kawhi Leonard combined for 57 points but the difference in the blowout was G Jordan Miller (21 points on 13 shots off the bench). No Nets player reached 20 points.
Detroit embarrassed the Chicago Bulls 108-93 on Wednesday to cover as an 8-point home favorite in a game where the Under (228.5) hit. Isaiah Stewart went off for 31 points to carry the Pistons as they were without 3 starters in this contest, including G Cade Cunningham, who was out with a wrist injury. The Pistons forced 17 turnovers and led 62-48 in points in the paint.
LA destroyed Detroit 112-99 on Dec. 28, covering as a 1.5-point home favorite while the Under (228.5) hit. Leonard dropped a career-high 55 points with an added 11 boards to secure the win for the Clippers. Cunningham was the only Piston to finish with more than 20 points, scoring 27.

PASS.
I like the Pistons to cover here as -190 favorites as they are simply the better team, so I don’t see them losing to the Clippers twice in the same season. However, with Cunningham potentially out, they are not worth the risk of backing here, so pass and bet on the spread and/or Over/Under instead.
LEAN CLIPPERS +4.5 (-110).
LA is the hotter team, having won 8 of its last 10 and sitting at 7-3 ATS during that stretch. On the other side, the Pistons are extremely banged up and have failed to cover against LA, Sacramento, Portland, and Utah in their last 10 games.
Because paint scoring will likely be hard to come by here, look for this to be a game in which Harden and/or Leonard do a lot of heavy lifting in order to keep this one close. Similarly, look for LA’s defense to be forced to step up and play a major role here, as Detroit’s defense is ruthless on the other side.
This is a lean because the Pistons are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 matchups against the Clippers.
BET UNDER 214.5 (-110).
The Under has hit in 8 of Detroit’s last 10 games, including the last 6 in a row. The Under is also 20-17 for the Pistons this season. In the last 10 meetings between these squads, the Under is 7-3, including cashing in 3 of the last 4 matchups.
Detroit has one of the fiercest defenses in the league and LA hasn’t looked too far behind recently. In their last 10 games, the Clippers have held opponents under 100 points 3 times and under 110 8 times.
