Derik Queen registered his second triple-double on Friday, leading the New Orleans Pelicans to a win over the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena.

Queen, a Maryland native, finished with 14 points, 16 rebounds, 12 assists and two blocked shots in the 128-107 victory as the Pelicans snapped a nine-game losing streak. He shot 7-of-13 from the field and was a plus-18 in 34 minutes, 41 seconds of action.

The 13th pick joined Chris Paul as the only two rookies in franchise history with multiple triple-doubles. He is the only first-year player with a triple-double this season and is the first to have at least two since Victor Wembanyama in 2023-24.

“I thought Queen was fantastic,” Pelicans interim coach James Borrego said. “Great energy, big time performance on the glass, shared the ball, moved the ball, had a massive impact out there, especially to do it here in front of his hometown was really special. I’m proud of him.”

Queen is averaging 12.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals on 49.6% shooting from the field in 39 appearances with the Pelicans. He leads the rookie class in rebounding and double-doubles (8), and is one of three first-year players with multiple 30-point games.
