On the court, there’s few players who bring the same level of intensity as San Antonio Spurs star forward Victor Wembanyama. But don’t let his on-court play make you think that the Spurs big man disdains the city that is the home of the team the Spurs escaped with a 110-105 win against on Saturday (Jan. 10) evening, the Boston Celtics.

Wemby opened up on his thoughts about the City of Boston after San Antonio held off Boston in a tight contest throughout, and had praise for Boston in areas one might not expect. “I mean, playing in Boston is cool,” said the Spurs star.

“First of all, the city is pretty cool, I think even though, since it’s a back to back so I haven’t had time to really experience it, it’s pretty cool, pretty walkable, unlike many American cities.”

“I think they’ve got, obviously, they’ve got great history, great culture,” said Wembanyama “So, it’s a good team. It’s one of the toughest teams in terms of class in the NBA.”

As to what was on his mind when he sank two key shots in the fourth quarter? “My mindset was just, ‘I have to close out the game’. I think too often … it’s easier said than done. Too often, we like doing lots of efforts, and let it go to waste, one way or the other — sort of like not letting that happen.”
