AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The West Plains Wolves have not shied away from tough competition on the basketball court this season and are one of two teams in District 4-4A that remain undefeated.
The Wolves are 3-0 in district, picking up their third win Friday over rival Randall by 12 points.
The Wolves proved why they are ranked in the top 20 in Class 4A in that game, with three different West Plains athletes scoring in double digits.
Wolves head basketball coach Kendall Cogburn said this team is well-rounded and successful because of it.
“By watching us play, you’d see a team that plays with grit and some toughness, plays fast and shares the ball. In my opinion, plays the game the right way. Unselfish basketball, we got a lot of talent, a lot of really good players, but we all share the ball and we take good shots. And I think we’re a good rebounding team as well. So we’re pretty tough. I think it’s an exciting brand of basketball. And I think we’re starting to hit our stride. We’re getting close, but we’re definitely going to be a team to watch in February,” Cogburn said.
Upcoming schedule
The Wolves will travel to face Dumas next, then host Canyon in another rivalry matchup.
They will then go back on the road to face Borger before hosting Pampa. The Harvesters are the only other team in District 4-4A that are also undefeated.
West Plains will then start the second half of district play on the road against Hereford. The Wolves defeated the Whitefaces by 40 points earlier this season.
