Members of the Syracuse Police and Fire Departments took to the basketball court for a spirited game to support the United Way. The event, known as the Bravest versus Finest game, marked its return after several years, bringing together the community and those in uniform for a good cause.
Michael Monds, Chief of the Syracuse Fire Department, said, “It’s a great time for us to get together and not worry about our jobs and our day-to-day stresses of working in our respective organizations, but to be here together and raise money for people who really need it.”
In a thrilling match, the fire department made a significant comeback to win the game 92 to 88. Organizers expressed hope that the game will return again next year.
Joe Cecile, Chief of the Syracuse Police Department, echoed the sentiment, saying, “We work together on the street at fires and things like that, but we haven’t done things like this very often. We certainly haven’t done it in the last 4-5 years, so it’s just great to be out here and to be doing it for the United Way as well.”
