Should the Boston Celtics be buyers at the 2026 NBA trade deadline? A number of trade rumors have linked the Celtics to some potentially intriguing targets, most of them big men. But in the majority of these rumors, the Celtics would need to send out substantial draft assets and/or players who are playing a significant role in the team’s success so far.
Would it be worth Anfernee Simons, one of Boston’s young wing players, and multiple first round draft picks for Los Angeles Clippers big man Ivica Zubac? Would it make sense to trade one of the Celtics core players for a reunion with Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III? And does the front office value cap space enough to send out Simons with a draft pick to get below the tax line to reset the NBA’s punitive repeater tax? Does Boston even need to do that given they might be able to re-sign Simons AND do so at a rate that would have them under the tax?
The folks behind the “NBC Sports Boston” YouTube channel put together a clip taking a closer look. Check it out below!
