COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M men’s basketball ranks seventh nationally in 3-pointers made per game and may need to continue that trend Tuesday against Tennessee.

The Volunteers (11-5, 1-2) are the SEC’s best defensive team, holding opponents to 67.3 points per game. They’re also second in the SEC in opponent 3-point percentage at 29.1%

A&M (13-3, 3-0) enters Tuesday second in the conference in 3-point shooting, making 37.4% of its attempts. Guard Ruben Dominguez leads the SEC making 47.1% of his 147 attempts. He’s made multiple 3-pointers in each contest during A&M’s six-game win streak.

While Tennessee is led by a ferocious defense, offensively a pair of guards star for the Vols. Ja’Kobi Gillespie, a senior, leads the team, averaging 18.3 points. The former Maryland Terp is also averaging 2.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists, while shooting 43.7% from the field.

The Volunteers are 3-2 in their last five games, including a 91-57 loss Saturday to Florida. The Aggies have won 11 of their last 12 games and will look to extend their streak to seven in a row.

Tennessee is A&M’s first game against a ranked opponent.
