King of the Court is back every Tuesday on DraftKings Sportsbook! Garion Thorne makes a couple contrarian picks for tonight’s slate.
DraftKings will be running it’s popular King of the Court promo on tonight’s seven-game NBA slate. Users who opt have the chance to split $1 million in bonus bets by placing a player prop bet on the DraftKings Sportsbook on the player who ultimately leads that night in total points, rebounds and assists.
Seems simple enough, right? Why wouldn’t you just place a bet on the highest usage option on that slate and call it a day? Well, the bonus bet split is smaller depending on how popular the player is with the betting public, so there could be some value in taking a contrarian approach.
With that in mind, here are a couple under the radar King of the Court picks for Tuesday night’s basketball action.
King of the Court Value Picks
Julius Randle, Timberwolves at Bucks
Julius Randle’s role in Minnesota is far different from the All-Star version of the forward we used to see in New York. However, with Anthony Edwards (foot) and Rudy Gobert (suspension) unavailable for this evening’s tilt in Milwaukee, we might just see a blast from the past. Let’s start with the basics. Randle’s viability as a possible King of the Court hinges on his ability to do it all. Randle can score, he can grab rebounds and, crucially, he’s always been an adept passer as a big man. Remember, back in 2020-21 with the Knicks, Randle averaged 24.1 points, 10.2 boards and 6.0 assists per contest. Randle also has 16 career triple-doubles, including two earlier this season — one back on November 3 against the Nets with Edwards in street clothes. That’s the key element with this pick. Randle’s usage rate skyrockets to 29.3% with Edwards off the floor in 2025-26, and that’s translated into 29.1 points per 75 possessions. With Gobert out, the 31-year-old will need to be more assertive than usual on the glass, as well. Put it all together, and Randle has an amazing opportunity to stuff the stat sheet on Tuesday evening.
Associated Prop Bet: Julius Randle 23+ Points (-117)
Jalen Johnson, Hawks at Lakers
Johnson is certainly working himself out of “contrarian” territory, but on a slate with Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo, I’ll consider the zero-time All-Star a bit of a riskier King of the Court pick — at least in name value. Here’s a fun Johnson stat: He is currently one of only two players in the NBA with 800 points, 300 rebounds and 250 assists. The other? Nikola Jokic. In fact, Johnson leads the NBA in defensive rebounds (327). He’s an animal on the glass, an effective playmaker, and he’s shooting 52.6% from the field. There’s a reason he’s already racked up seven triple-doubles this season, and if he can manage another tonight in Los Angeles, there’s a good chance he’ll end up atop the PRA leaderboard. It also doesn’t hurt matters that the Hawks enter this evening’s action sitting second in the NBA in pace (103.1), while the Lakers rank 26th in defensive rating (117.1). This should be an ideal environment for a huge stat line.
Associated Prop Bet: Jalen Johnson 42+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (-111)
