While Anthony Davis’s season has been put on ice due to a hand injury, his trade market remains hot.
Marc Stein reports the Toronto Raptors are one of the teams that maintain interest in the oft-injured Dallas Mavericks star.
Davis, 32, has appeared in only 29 of a possible 73 games for the Mavs since being acquired last February in the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. He appeared in 20 games this season before being shut down earlier this week. Despite the shutdown, there is the sense that Davis could return late in the season or in the playoffs for a team competing in the post season.
Stein notes that any potential Raptors offer would include one of Immanuel Quickley or Jakob Poeltl alongside RJ Barrett. Quickley, 26, has four years remaining on a five-year, $162.5 million deal. The 20-year-old Poeltl has a three-year, $84 million extension that kicks in with the 2027-2028 season. Barrett, a 25-year-old Mississauga, Ont. native, has one more year remaining on a four-year, $107 million deal signed with the New York Knicks.
As for Davis, he is set to earn $58.5 million in 2026-2027, the final year of a three-year, $175.4 million deal signed with the Lakers. The contract also comes with a $62.8 million player option for 2027-2028.
A native of Chicago, Davis is in his 14th NBA season out of Kentucky. A 10-time All-Star, Davis has averaged 20.4 points on .506 shooting, 11.1 boards and 2.8 assists over 31.3 minutes a night this season.
The NBA trade deadline is set for Feb. 5.
