The Atlanta Hawks (20-22) and Portland Trail Blazers (19-22) meet Thursday at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Hawks vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
2024-25 season series: Trail Blazers won 2-0
The Hawks were punished 141-116 as 1.5-point road underdogs by the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday as the Over (234.5) cashed. G Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the way with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting, hitting 5-of-9 from downtown. Recently acquired G CJ McCollum added 25 points off the bench, hitting a pair of 3-pointers.
The Hawks wrap up a 4-game road trip in Portland. Despite the blowout loss to the Lakers, Atlanta is 2-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the first 3 games of the journey. The Over snapped a 4-game Under streak, too, though the total has gone low in 6 of the Hawks’ past 8 outings.
The Trail Blazers lost 119-97 at Golden State in their most recent outing Tuesday, falling as an 11.5-point underdog with the Under (225.5) cashing. G Shaedon Sharpe went for 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting but had no help with G Deni Avdija (back) sidelined. Avdija will miss Thursday, as well. F Jerami Grant (Achilles), who also sat, is probable for this one.
Portland has lost and failed to cover 2 in a row after up a 5-game win and cover streak. The Under is 3-1 in the Blazers’ last 4 games, 6-2 across the past 8 outings, and 11-3 in the previous 14 contests.

Hawks at Trail Blazers picks and predictionsPrediction
Hawks 120, Trail Blazers 111
The HAWKS (-170) aren’t priced out of line as moderate favorites if you want to pick a winner but don’t want to mess around laying the points on the road.
Atlanta has won just once in the past 4 meetings with Portland and hasn’t won in the Rose City since Feb. 13, 2017, so there is risk here. But, with Avdija, the team’s leading scorer, out and Grant coming off a 14-game layoff (if he plays), the time is now for Atlanta to break that skid.
Back the HAWKS -3.5 (-115) laying the points on the road. They’re 3-1 ATS in their past 4 games and 7-3 ATS in Atlanta’s previous 10 outings.
The Blazers have averaged just 105.5 PPG while allowing 121.0 in their last two games — both losses. They cannot be trusted without their leading scorer as the offense is a jumbled mess without Avdija.
The UNDER 231.5 (-110) is worth a look, but go with a half-unit play at best.
As mentioned above, the Under has been hitting in Blazers games recently (Under is 3-1 in their last 4 games, 6-2 in 8, and 11-3 in 14).
For Atlanta, the Over cashed its last time out but the Under hit in the previous 4 games and is 6-2 in the previous 8 contests.
