The Atlanta Hawks have had a disappointing season thus far as they currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 20-22 record.

Of course, the Hawks had a solid start to the season but they have struggled over the last few months due to many reasons, including injuries, and they also pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards that swapped Trae Young for C.J. McCollum and Corey Kispert.

Despite this, Atlanta still finds themselves in the playoff race in the East and they are looking to compete for a playoff spot behind their core of Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

With the Hawks still fighting for a playoff spot, they may be open to making more trades ahead of the deadline to upgrade their roster.

Hawks Could Target Mavericks’ Anthony Davis Ahead of Trade Deadline

Atlanta has been linked to multiple players in trade rumors, though Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis has been one of the main players linked to them.

Of course, the Mavericks may be open to moving Davis this season with them trying to focus on rebuilding their roster around Cooper Flagg, which could see the Hawks target him to upgrade their frontcourt.

Mock Trade Lands Hawks Anthony Davis From Mavericks

In a potential trade, the Hawks could send Kristaps Porzingis, Zaccharie Risacher, Vit Krejci and multiple first-round picks, including the New Orleans Pelicans 2026 first rounder that they received during the 2025 draft when the Pelicans traded up to select Derik Queen.

For the Hawks, making this trade would be a massive risk due to Davis’s injury history and the fact that he is currently sidelined due to a hand injury that is expected to keep him out for at least six weeks, especially with Atlanta giving up two former lottery picks and a potential top five pick in the upcoming draft.

Despite this, adding Davis to their roster would give the Hawks a major boost at the center position, as long as he can stay healthy.

Davis would provide the Hawks with a dominant scorer and defender inside next to Johnson and could help them take another step forward.

This season, the 32-year-old big man is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and 27.0% from three.

While Davis could give Atlanta a major boost on both ends of the court, giving up this much for him could end up being a poor decision for the Hawks if the star big man is unable to stay healthy, which has been a major concern for him over the past handful of seasons.

Because of this, Atlanta could instead look elsewhere to upgrade their roster as they try to make a run at a playoff spot in the post-Young era.
