76ers vs. Cavaliers: The matchup
The 76ers hope an off day can trigger a total reset from a 133-107 loss to the Cavs on Wednesday in the first of back-to-back games between the teams in Philadelphia. That performance marked the most points the Sixers allowed in a regulation game since a 144-103 loss to the Orlando Magic on Nov. 25. Donovan Mitchell netted 35 points to lead the Cavs to a big shooting night, where they sunk 53% of their shots and 43% of their 3-pointers to cruise past the 76ers and get their second win in three games.

With that loss, the 76ers fell to 22-17 on the season, which has them sitting fifth in a tight grouping in the Eastern Conference standings. Philadelphia is still a solid 6-3 in nine games since Dec. 30 with center Joel Embiid and forward Paul George back in the lineup from respective injuries. Tyrese Maxey continues to pace the 76ers in scoring (30.5 ppg) with solid backcourt help from rookie VJ Edgecombe (15.9 ppg), Quentin Grimes (14.0 ppg) and Kelly Oubre Jr. (13.5 ppg) helping to keep the team afloat until it returned to health.
