With the NBA trade deadline approaching, numerous teams will be looking to make moves to further propel their team with being contenders, or look to make moves to further help their rebuild. For the Miami Heat, they currently aren’t far off from contending as they hold a 21-20 record, but clearly aren’t a top team right now in the Eastern Conference. A trade they could look to make at the trade deadline is trading away Tyler Herro.
*Prediction*
In games that Tyler Herro hasn’t played, the Miami Heat have still gone on to have success without him as Bam Adebayo has carried the team as well as Norman Powell. If Herro were to become available in trade discussions, a team that makes sense to trade for him is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have also had a successful start to the 2025-26 season as they hold the fourth-best record in the Western Conference with 27-14. While Minnesota has had success, they are in a loaded Western Conference, and will need to find ways to better support Anthony Edwards if they are truly going to solidify themselves as contenders.
One of the biggest things that Minnesota must accomplish at the deadline is getting another scoring talent to pair with Edwards at the guard position, as just relying on Edwards and Julius Randle as the top scorers isn’t sustainable. It especially isn’t great considering Donte DiVincenzo is averaging just 13.4 points per game, creating the need for better guard play alongside Edwards.
In the 11 games that Tyler Herro has played this season, he has still made his presence known as a true scoring threat as he has gone on to average 21.9 points per game, as well as 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Pairing someone with the scoring ability like Herro, who is also just 25 years old, would be ideal for Minnesota as they would create a sustainable tandem with Herro and Edwards to rely on for the future.
