It has been a struggle of a second season for Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain. After taking the league by storm as a rookie in 2024-25 and having his maiden season end after just 23 games due to a torn meniscus in his left knee, he has not been able to find a rhythm quite yet in 2025-26.
In 30 games, McCain is averaging just 6.3 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 35.4% from the floor and 32.3% from deep. It hasn’t helped him that he also suffered a torn UCL in his right thumb shortly before camp, but the dynamic guard out of Duke has been unable to earn a spot in the rotation and he needs the minutes to get back into form.

Therefore, the Sixers have decided to send McCain down to the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League. Philadelphia is off on Sunday, so it gives McCain an opportunity to get some reps in with the team being off. The Blue Coats will take o the Evansville Boom on the road on Sunday.
This is McCain’s second stint in the G League and it will allow him to get some reps in a non-pressure environment. He is much better than what he has shown thus far in his second season and it is more so just about getting the much-needed reps to round back into form.
