The Atlanta Hawks played the Boston Celtics close in the first quarter of the tilt they played at their own home court of State Farm Arena. And then things fell apart for the Hawks as the Celtics could not miss in the second frame of the contest, going up by as much as 43 points. Boston would ultimately win 132-106 thanks to the team shooting 51% from the field overall and 41% from beyond the arc on a night Atlanta shot 37% overall and just 33% from deep.
That the Celtics got to the line 5 more times than the Hawks while winning the battle of the boards by 8 rebounds certainly helped, even if they did lose the shot attempt battle 102-92. With the win, the Celtics shore up their grip on second place in the East, and are within shouting distance of first in the East ahead of a tilt vs. the team (the Detroit Pistons) currently atop the East.
