Atlanta Hawks rookie Asa Newell registered another double-digit-scoring outing in the G League on Sunday, helping the College Park Skyhawks in a home loss to the Maine Celtics.

Newell finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists in the 112-103 loss at the Gateway Center Arena. He went 7-of-11 from the field in 24 minutes, 24 seconds of action off the bench as the Skyhawks dropped to 4-9 in the regular season.

The 23rd pick in the 2025 NBA draft found success in the paint, finishing strong at the rim while also getting downhill on several occasions. He also threw down a highlight reel dunk over a defender on the break in the first quarter.

Newell has played sporadically for the Hawks, averaging 5.1 points and two rebounds in 32 appearances for coach Quin Snyder. He is one of 14 rookies to register a double-double this season after recording 12 points and 10 rebounds on Oct. 25.

The 20-year-old is averaging 18.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and three assists while shooting 58.1% shooting from the field in four games with the Skyhawks. He has scored at least 14 points in each appearance, including a 27-point outing on Dec. 2.

Newell has impressed in spurts throughout the first half of the season and earned the trust of his teammates. The team will continue to explore opportunities for him in the G League as it looks to maximize his development throughout the season.
