Kevin Durant moved past Dirk Nowitzki to occupy sixth place on the NBA’s all-time point-scoring list after racking up 18 points during Houston Rockets’ 119-110 win over New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.
That haul moved Durant up to 31,562 career points, and took him past former Dallas Mavericks star Nowitzki, who has 31,560. He now sits behind Michael Jordan, who is in fifth place with 32,292 points.
“To be up there with Dirk, somebody I looked up to, I idolized, I competed against,” said Durant after the match. “We had some great battles. He always was supportive of my career and my game. So, you know to be up there with a legend like that, it’s just insane. And be right under Michael Jordan, it’s crazy man.
“I want to continue to keep stacking, keep climbing up the charts, just see how I finish. It’s been amazing so far.”
