Arizona is the No. 1 team in the country. And this time, it’s unanimous.
The Wildcats received every first-place vote in this week’s Associated Press Top 25. UConn is ranked No. 2, followed by No. 3 Michigan, No. 4 Purdue and No. 5 Duke.
Arizona has been ranked No. 1 in the AP poll for seven straight weeks, marking the program’s second-longest run atop the rankings. In 2013-14, the Wildcats were ranked No. 1 for eight straight weeks.
Arizona can tie that mark if it takes care of business this week with home matchups against Cincinnati on Wednesday and West Virginia on Saturday.
Arizona is one of six Big 12 programs ranked, joined by No. 6 Houston, No. 9 Iowa State, No. 12 Texas Tech, No. 13 BYU and No. 19 Kansas. UCF, who Arizona beat 84-77 on Saturday, received 14 votes.
The UA is one of three remaining undefeated teams. The other unbeatens are No. 8 Nebraska and No. 25 Miami (Ohio).
Arizona was also the unanimous No. 1 team in the USA Today Coaches poll this week.
