Jaylen Brown selected to start in NBA’s new All-Star tournament format

Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown was honored Monday among 10 NBA stars picked to be starters for the league’s 2026 All-Star Game, which is being replaced with a new format this season. This is Brown’s fifth All-Star selection and his first as a starter. Brown will start for the Eastern Conference team alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, of the Bucks; Jalen Brown, of the Knicks; Cade Cunningham, of the Pistons; and Tyrese Maxey of the 76ers. The Western Conference team starters will be Stephen Curry, of the Warriors; Luka Dončić, of the Lakers; Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, of the Thunder; Nikola Jokić, of the Nuggets; and Victor Wembanyama, of the Spurs.This year, the All-Star Game will feature a new format in which two teams of U.S. players and one team of international players will compete in a round-robin tournament featuring four 12-minute games.The starters were selected by a formula considering fan votes, input from current NBA players and results of a media panel. Reserve players, to be named at a later date, will be selected by NBA head coaches. The All-Star Game, really a tournament of small games, will be played on Feb. 15.
