Giannis Antetokounmpo did not commit on whether he will remain with the Milwaukee Bucks through the end of the season, saying he is taking the situation “day by day” in post-game comments after Milwaukee secured a narrow 112–110 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Greek Freak delivered another strong all-around performance, finishing with 21 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 assists, as the Bucks moved closer to the Eastern Conference Play-In spots in a game decided in the closing moments.

Antetokounmpo keeps focus on basketball

After the final buzzer, Antetokounmpo was asked about ongoing talk around the league regarding his future and the attention surrounding his status in Milwaukee.

In his post-game comments, he made it clear he is not interested in what other teams may be thinking or doing, emphasizing that it is outside of his control. Instead, Antetokounmpo said his focus remains on what he can control: stepping on the floor, competing, and doing everything possible to help his team win.

When asked directly if he expects to finish the season with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo again avoided offering certainty. “I don’t know,” he said, repeating that he is approaching the situation day by day.

The brief response was enough to put his long-term direction back in the spotlight, given Antetokounmpo’s status as one of the NBA’s most impactful and recognizable players.

Giannis Antetokounmpo reflects on his 10th All-Star selection

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named a starter for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, extending his streak to a 10th consecutive selection and start—the longest active run in the league in both categories.

Reflecting on the milestone, Antetokounmpo said his younger self would not have believed it possible, recalling how early in his NBA journey the Bucks pointed him toward examples such as Paul Pierce and Tracy McGrady, both 10-time All-Stars. He remembered being told that he could one day achieve the same level and described the goal as something he carried with him as motivation.

Antetokounmpo called the achievement a personal target reached, expressing gratitude to God for keeping him driven, protecting him throughout his journey, and continuing to push him forward for what comes next. This season, he also became the 42nd player in NBA history to surpass 21,000 career points, reaching the mark on November 29 in a 116–99 win over the Brooklyn Nets. At 30 years and 358 days old, he became the sixth-youngest player ever to reach 21,000 points and the third-youngest to do so with a single franchise.

Adding to his historic achievements, Antetokounmpo became the NBA’s all-time leader in games with 30+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists, recording his 158th such performance on January 2. This moved him past Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who were previously tied at 157.

Fourth-highest earning NBA player for 2025 season

Antetokounmpo’s influence extends far beyond the scoreboard. According to Forbes, Giannis ranks as the fourth highest-earning NBA player for the 2025 season and is the top earner for the Milwaukee Bucks, with $54.1 million in on-court income, more than double that of the team’s second-highest-paid player, Myles Turner. He also holds the 13th spot among the world’s highest-paid athletes.

In total, Antetokounmpo is projected to earn $99.1 million this season, including $54.1 million from his NBA contract and $45 million from endorsements and business ventures.

His off-court portfolio is just as impressive, featuring partnerships with Nike, Huggies, and JBL, along with investments in the women’s basketball league Unrivaled, the sports-tech startup ScorePlay, and ventures in real estate and a winery in Greece.
