NBC’s Coast 2 Coast Tuesday

Right on the heels of an epic nail-biter nightcap between Boston and Detroit to close out Monday’s action, we’re heading west to catch an all-new pair of Coast 2 Coast Tuesday pro hoops showdowns.

As it just so happens, the duo of January 20 basketball duels lighting up this week’s Coast 2 Coast Tuesday on NBC aren’t mere middle-of-the-pack NBA filler. The divisional stakes are sky-high in the night’s early game, while the late game features a huge cross-divisional rivalry between another pair of winning Western Conference teams.

Coast 2 Coast NBA games on NBC and Peacock (Tuesday, January 20)San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets (8 p.m. ET — NBC and Peacock)

First up, there’s an NBA battle between the two Western Conference teams at the tip-top of their Southwest Division. The San Antonio Spurs (30-13) will visit the Houston Rockets (25-15) for the second of four scheduled head-to-head contests between the two squads throughout the 2025-2026 regular season. Tipoff time is set for 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 20, with the game broadcast live on NBC and in simulcast streaming on Peacock.

The Spurs hold the 1-0 advantage over the Rockets in this season’s series so far, thanks to a 121-110 home win back on November 7. Looking at the bigger picture, San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama has the Spurs towering above the rest of their Southwest Division… but 15-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant and the Rockets aren’t too far behind, sitting comfortably in the Division’s current 2nd place spot.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets (10 p.m. ET — NBC and Peacock)

Topping things off out west in the Coast 2 Coast Tuesday late game is a showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers (25-16) vs. Denver Nuggets (29-14). Tipoff time is set for 10 p.m. ET, with the game airing live on NBC and streaming in simulcast on Peacock.

This week’s head-to-head matchup marks the first in a three-game series between the Lakers and Nuggets this regular season, and the visiting Lakers may hit the court at Denver’s Ball Arena looking like the healthier team. From LeBron James to Luka Dončić, the Lakers’ starting lineup looks ready to roll for this game — though the same can’t quite be said for the Nuggets.

Denver’s already been managing without star center Nikola Jokić (who’s been out with a knee injury since late December), while also keeping a close medical eye on starters Christan Braun and Jamal Murray. The Lakers currently hold the edge in a neck-and neck race against the Phoenix Suns for the top spot in their Pacific Division, while the Nuggets — despite their impressive overall record — are looking up from a distance in the second spot in their Northwest Division, where reigning NBA champs the Oklahoma City Thunder currently reign supreme.
