The G League’s OKC Blue fell in a 127-112 loss to the Austin Spurs on Tuesday. The home defeat dropped their record to 2-11 in the regular season.

It’s a deceptive final score, as the Blue kept it competitive through the first three quarters before letting go of the rope late. OKC came out hot and had a 34-33 lead after the first frame. It kept its distance with 31 points in the second frame. They entered halftime with a 65-63 lead over the Spurs.

Momentum kept building in the right direction. The Blue scored 29 points in the third quarter. They had a 94-88 lead at that point in the game. Vibes were good in OKC as it returned home for the first time in a minute. Tied at 98 points apiece, things started to unravel.

That’s when Austin took complete control. It scored 17 consecutive points to build up a 115-98 lead with under five minutes to go. In just three minutes, the Blue had no idea what hit them. Talk about going through a high-speed avalanche.

The Blue couldn’t recover the rest of the way. They were outscored in the final frame, 39-18, to go from up double-digit points to down double-digit points. An unfortunate way to spoil what was otherwise a solid showing.
