Toronto Raptors rookie Collin Murray-Boyles has been ruled out of playing Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings because of a left thumb contusion, the team announced.

Murray-Boyles suffered the injury on Sunday in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers when Luka Dončić hit his wrist on a shot attempt in the third quarter. He was ruled out of returning, recording 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 24 minutes, 38 seconds.

The ninth pick in the 2025 NBA draft didn’t play on Tuesday in a win over the Golden State Warriors, his eighth missed game of the season. He was set to undergo further evaluation on Wednesday after dealing with pain and swelling, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.

Murray-Boyles is averaging 7.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and two assists while shooting 53.6% from the field in 37 appearances. He is ninth among all rookies in rebounding and is the only first-year player to haul in at least 15 rebounds in multiple games this season.

The 20-year-old had started the last nine games for the Raptors in place of Jakob Poeltl, averaging 10.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. He has scored at least 10 points in five straight games, tied for the second-longest active streak by a rookie this season.

Murray-Boyles and the team will remain hopeful his latest setback won’t force him to miss extended time, with RJ Barrett (ankle), Poeltl (back) and Ja’Kobe Walter (hip) also sidelined. The Raptors continue their five-game West Coast road trip on Friday in Portland.
