The Boston Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 119-104 on Wednesday (Jan. 21) night after a tight first quarter. The game was broken open in the second frame, and while the Pacers hung around for a while, Boston held off Indiana to improve to 27-16 on the season.
The Celtics held the Pacers to just 27% from beyond the arc while shooting just under 40% from deep themselves, and won the battle of the boards 54-42 to offset the 6 fewer shot attempts Boston was able to get off vs. Indiana. With the win, the Celtics now find themselves back in the win column after dropping a road game to the first- place Detroit Pistons, who they trail by 5.5 games. They also have a 1.5 game lead over the third-place New York Knicks with the victory over the Pacers.
