Wisconsin’s women’s basketball program is off to its hottest start in recent memory.

Captained by first-year head coach Robin Pingeton, Wisconsin is 11-1 at the Kohl Center to open the 2025-26 campaign. The mark is the program’s best since the 1994-95 season, when UW went 20-9 and lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin’s most recent win, a 63-60 triumph over No. 24 Nebraska, lifted the program to the home record mark. Forward Gift Uchenna scored 22 points and corralled 14 boards off a 10-of-17 clip from the field in 32 minutes of action, and Missouri State transfer Kyrah Daniels finished with 19 points and eight rebounds in her 34 minutes.

As of Jan. 23, Wisconsin is 5-4 against Big Ten teams and has already tied its overall number of wins from the 2024-25 season. UW went 13-17 last season under Marisa Moseley and amassed four wins against conference foes throughout the entire year.

With Pingeton at the helm, it appears as if UW is kick-starting a program turnaround. In addition to the win over Nebraska, Wisconsin secured another ranked triumph over Michigan State on Dec. 7 in Madison.

The Badgers‘ transfer class is also performing well to open the season, especially Howard transfer Destiny Howell. The New York native accompanies Uchenna and Daniels atop the Badgers’ scouting report with a team-best 13.7 points per game in her first year in Madison.

Wisconsin will take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Jan. 25 in Minneapolis.
