The Los Angeles Lakers‘ long road trip begins in earnest on Saturday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks. It officially began on Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets, but they had an away game in Inglewood, Calif. versus the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, which allowed them to briefly return home.
The Mavericks may have a 19-26 record, but they can do some damage. Rookie forward Cooper Flagg looks like a budding star, and the Mavericks are one of the NBA’s best fast-break teams. Los Angeles is in fifth place in the Western Conference with a 26-17 record and has lost six of its last nine games.

Other than Austin Reaves and rookie forward Adou Thiero, everyone is expected to be available to play for L.A. on Saturday.
It has now been nearly a month since Reaves was sidelined due to a gastrocnemius strain. Lakers coach JJ Redick said on Tuesday that he expects the guard to return at some point during this current road trip, which ends on Feb. 3 with a contest against the Brooklyn Nets.
