Season series: Heat lead 1-0

Miami has won 4 of the past 5 and 8 of the past 10 in the series while posting identical against the spread (ATS) records in those games. The Over is 3-1 in the past 4 meetings, too.

Miami makes the third stop on a 5-game road trip. The Heat picked up a 130-117 win at Sacramento last time out on Tuesday, covering as a 4-point favorite while the Over (238.5) cashed. C Bam Adebayo posted 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 3-pointers and 1 block, while G Norman Powell had 22 points.

Heat at Trail Blazers picks and predictionsPrediction

Trail Blazers 119, Heat 115

The Trail Blazers (-125) are a little more expensive than laying the little bit of points. When betting a slight favorite, it makes a lot more financial sense to lay the points rather than the moneyline. If you like Portland, there is little difference between the 2 bets, so why pay more?

PASS.

The TRAIL BLAZERS -1.5 (-115) are a better value to get the job done by at least a bucket. Unless you like Portland but think it will only win by a single point, there is no sense playing the moneyline. And if you fit that scenario, you don’t really like Portland that much.

While the injury report for Portland looks imposing, a lot of those guys have missed a chunk of time. The key here is whether Grant can play. But, even if he is out, Avdija, Sharpe and Clingan are an unheralded Big Three doing good things in the PDX.

The UNDER 239.7 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at best.

While the Over has cashed in 3 in a row for Miami and 5 of the Heat’s past 6 outings, the Under has still cashed 4 times in the past 9 outings. And the Over-Under is 2-2 in the past 4 games at home.

The Under is 3-1 in the past 4 games for Portland, which has allowed 117 or fewer points in 3 in a row and in 8 of its past 10. The Under is 13-4 in the Blazers’ past 17 games, too. Go low.
