The Dallas Mavericks didn’t have much time to wallow over a fourth-quarter meltdown that led to another loss to Luka Doncic and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night.
Instead, they had to rush through their postgame routines and media obligations in a last-ditch effort to fly to Milwaukee for Sunday’s quick turnaround game against the Bucks.
The Mavericks arrived at Dallas Love Field, but deemed it wasn’t safe to travel through the wintry weather and turned their buses back around to remain in town for the night. They are expected to attempt to fly to Milwaukee on Sunday, but they’ll have a tight window since the game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. Central.
Dallas was hit with heavy precipitation on Saturday night, which included freezing rain along with a mixture of sleet and snow. More snow is expected to fall on Sunday, which could further complicate travel plans for the Mavericks.

Coach Jason Kidd foreshadowed similar circumstances before Thursday’s game against the Golden State Warriors when he was asked about the possibility of Saturday’s game against the Lakers being postponed.
“But now the other games could be in doubt,” Kidd said. “That’s just something the league will have to decide on as we go forward.”
The NBA has yet to release a status update for Sunday’s game between the Mavericks and Bucks, who will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo because of a right calf injury.
Mavericks center Daniel Gafford was optimistic about the Mavericks’ chances to leave during his postgame media session.
“I just hope and pray we make it before the storm hits,” Gafford said. “That’s pretty much it.”
