Luka Doncic doesn’t just lead the NBA in scoring average at 33.4 points a game — he’s also tops in free throw attempts and free throw makes per game, as well as second in overall field-goal attempts per game and 3-point tries per game and third in assists per game. He’s having his best all-around season yet, and it looks like he has truly entered his prime at age 26.
On Saturday, Doncic made his second trip back to American Airlines Center as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He put up 33 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds as the Lakers overcame a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter to claim a 116-110 victory.

In the process, he became the youngest player in NBA history to make the 1,500th 3-pointer of his career.
On the season, Doncic is shooting just 33.4% from 3-point range, which is his lowest accuracy from that distance in six seasons. However, in January, he’s at a very respectable 36.3% from beyond the arc.
People will likely always criticize him for his shot selection, especially the large number of contested treys he takes off the dribble. But as long as he’s hitting enough of them, they will function as heavy daggers in the hearts of opponents.
