Guard

Stud

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New Orleans Pelicans ($11,000)

So many injuries! No Jokic, Giannis, Booker, Trae, Jalen, KPJ… I’m sad. I haven’t tinkered yet with lineups, but staying in the midrange may be the way to go. We shall see. That said, if paying up, guard is probably where it’s at. SGA literally stuffs the stat sheet on a nightly basis and he’s always in play to pop off for over 60 FPTS, something he’s done in two of the last three contests. New Orleans is 11th in pace and 27th in defensive rating, so the environment could be a fantasy-friendly one.

Other Options: Cade Cunningham ($10,200), Tyrese Maxey ($9,800), Shaedon Sharpe ($7,800), Ryan Rollins ($7,100), Collin Gillespie ($6,900), Kyshawn George ($6,800), VJ Edgecombe ($6,800), Grayson Allen ($6,300)

Value

Tre Johnson, Washington Wizards vs. Portland Trail Blazers ($4,900)

Tre Johnson has started the last 15 games, but he only started receiving 30 minutes of run seven games ago. Over that span, he’s put up at least 25 FPTS five times with three of those over 30 FPTS. He won’t contribute much in the defensive categories or grab many boards, but he’s a silky smooth shooter with some playmaking chops. He’s playing over 30 minutes and getting a ton of opportunities.

Other Options: Caleb Love ($5,900), Bub Carrington ($5,600), Kelly Oubre Jr. ($5,600), Dennis Schroder ($4,700), Cole Anthony ($4,100)

Forward

Stud

Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings at New York Knicks ($8,100)

Sabonis returned from injury five games ago. In the first three games, he was limited to around 20 minutes. Two games ago, though, he got 31 minutes of run and put up 55 FPTS, but only played 25 minutes last game due to a blowout. The range of outcomes is wide because the Kings stink and are always in play to get blown out, but that could lower the ownership and the ceiling is high if he does play over 30 minutes.

Other Options: Chet Holmgren ($8,500), Michael Porter Jr. ($8,400) Dillon Brooks ($6,500), OG Anunoby ($6,400), Grayson Allen ($6,300)

Value

Nique Clifford, Sacramento Kings at New York Knicks ($3,300)

Another King? What could go wrong? Unfortunately, the answer is everything, but there is some potential upside as well. Clifford received the start last game and played 33 minutes, finishing with 23.2 FPTS. I know, not great… but not bad considering the price. Clifford got the start for Zach LaVine, who is questionable for this one. Even if Clifford doesn’t start, he will likely play double-digit minutes. Granted, he could end up with single-digit FPTS, but you probably won’t get a zero at least.

Other Options: Bobby Portis ($6,000), Kelly Oubre Jr. ($5,600), Isaiah Stewart ($5,000), Aaron Wiggins ($4,900), Kenrich Williams ($4,800), Ron Holland II ($3,800)

Center

Stud

Donovan Clingan, Portland Trail Blazers at Washington Wizards ($7,000)

Clingan is a behemoth of a man, clocking in at 7-foot-2 and 280 pounds. He has 75 pounds on Alex Sarr! A double-double is very much in the range of outcomes, something he’s accomplished in three of the last four games. Plus, Clingan is a very good passer, so some dimes should be dished. Washington plays fast and is one of the worst defensive teams, so there should be plenty of opportunities to rack up the fantasy goodies at both ends of the floor. Clingan has put up 44 and 50.2 FPTS in the last three games, so he can access a ceiling.

Other Options: Karl-Anthony Towns ($8,500), Domantas Sabonis ($8,100), Jalen Duren ($7,700), Alex Sarr ($7,200)

Value

Dylan Cardwell, Sacramento Kings at New York Knicks ($4,400)

Not another King! It is what it is because Cardwell has become a significant member of the rotation due to his defensive abilities and energy. He’s been playing minutes in the mid-20s of the last five games and has put up over 20 FPTS in each of those contests with two over 30 FPTS.

Other Options: Bobby Portis ($6,000), Myles Turner ($5,300), Isaiah Stewart ($5,000), Kenrich Williams ($4,800), Day’Ron Sharpe ($4,700), Zeke Nnaji ($4,500), Mitchell Robinson ($4,400), Yves Missi ($4,400), Oso Ighodaro ($3,900)
