While No. 10 Iowa women’s basketball (18-2, 9-0 Big Ten) continues to soar up national polls as a result of its current nine-game winning streak and perfect conference record, the Hawkeyes were hit with the unfortunate news of senior guard Taylor MCabe tore her left ACL and would officially be ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
The 5-foot-9 native of Fremont, Neb., suffered the non-contact injury in the opening minutes of the first quarter in Iowa’s eventual 91-70 win over No. 11 Ohio State, and was immediately carried off into the locker room by team medical staff. She would return to the bench in street clothes at the start of the second quarter with a heavy ice wrap around her left knee, while her teammates surrounded her with hugs and words of support.
Following the MRI results confirming her ACL tear and the Hawkeyes program’s subsequent injury designation, Iowa fans, teammates, coaches, and recruits shared their best wishes and prayers on social media.
