Keagan Smith details his best NBA player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s game between the New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder.

It’s not the most even matchup of tonight’s pro hoops slate, but the Oklahoma City Thunder are sure to put on a show when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. This one tips off at 8 p.m. EST, so we’re preparing by finding some of the top props for the action.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, OKC is a -14.5 favorite at home with -850 odds to win on the Moneyline. The game total is set at 233.5 combined points.

Here are the top Pelicans vs. Thunder prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s matchup.

Best Pelicans vs. Thunder player prop bets

Zion Williamson over 27.5 PTS + REB (-113)

I wavered some when trying to decide what prop bet I wanted for Zion Williamson in this contest. Over 21.5 points looked pretty solid since he’s exceeded that line in seven of his last 10 games, but I also worry a little bit about how strong the Thunder are at defending the paint with the fewest points allowed there of any NBA team. I still believe Zion should have a productive night (though we’re looking at empty-calorie stats in a very likely loss), which is how we ended up with a combined PTS + REB line. Yes, we’ll eschew assists for the moment and instead target the two categories Williamson is best in.

The veteran big man is largely playing well, averaging 22.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for an average of 28.0 PTS + REB. That takes us just over tonight’s line of 27.5, but I also want to look at the factors at play. Williamson has scored at least 20 points in all but two of his last 10 games, one of which was a blip due to receiving just 15 minutes in the contest. Of those eight outings, he recorded at least 22 points in seven and 24+ points in five. Chet Holmgren may be a bit of a problem as a shot-blocker, but Williamson does have the strength advantage and should muscle his way to the basket plenty. The rebounding side of his is what I also like, especially since he’s pulled down double-digit boards in back-to-back outings and has at least six rebounds in seven of his last 10 contests.

In short, the recent stat lines are largely quite good and Williamson has gone over this combo line of 27.5 PTS + REB in 19 of his 32 appearances on the year, including six of his last 10 games. It’s a reliable pick and I see no reason to fade him against Oklahoma City tonight since he’ll likely get his numbers in the scoring column, plus the Thunder rank just 19th in rebounding and 24th in opponent boards allowed per game.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander under 7.5 assists (-130)

This matchup does admittedly look fantastic for the Thunder, especially against a Pelicans defense allowing the third-most points (121.5), second-most assists (28.8) and fifth-highest shooting percentage (48.4%) to opponents. Usually, Oklahoma City would pick this team apart. While that may still be the case, it’s worth a look at the injury report to put things into perspective. The Thunder have no Jalen Williams, Isaiah Hartenstein, Ajay Mitchell or Alex Caruson, and Cason Wallace is questionable with hip soreness. Yes, OKC may still win this game, but it may require Shai Gilgeous-Alexander putting the team in his backpack.

The reigning MVP is tearing up opposing defenses with 32.1 PPG and shooting splits less than a percentage point away from the coveted 50/40/90 club. He’s also scored 40+ points three times in his last nine appearances with a 39-point outing in that span as well, so he’s also incredibly hot at the moment. However, I’m fading his assists line tonight due to the lack of surrounding talent. The market sits at an O/U of 7.5 here, and he’s only gone over that line twice in his last 15 contests with the under hitting in 33/45 matchups overall this season. The opponent is right for Gilgeous-Alexander to dish dimes, but I’m pretty bullish in my belief that the extensive injury report doesn’t leave a ton of awesome options to knock down shots. He should stay under this mark tonight.
