After losing five out of six games and nine out of 12, the Los Angeles Lakers have now won four of their last five contests and are 3-1 on their eight-game Grammy road trip. There is a chance that this momentum is real and that they are starting to turn things around.
They will face a test on Wednesday when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have a 28-20 record. While the Cavaliers haven’t been playing as well as many expected them to when this season began, they’re a very potent offensive team, and Donovan Mitchell, their main star, is having his best season yet.
There was some hope that Austin Reaves, who has been out for about a month due to a gastrocnemius strain, would be able to return for Wednesday’s game. But he will be out once again, along with rookie forward Adou Thiero.
Coach JJ Redick said last week that Reaves would be activated at some point during this road trip, which will end next Tuesday, Feb. 3, against the Brooklyn Nets. The guard hasn’t played since Christmas Day, and L.A. has gone 9-7 since then.
