Refusing to let him get an easy layup, Lu Dort made sure Jeremiah Fears didn’t break one of basketball’s unwritten rules. Soon, things escalated. As the final buzzer sounded, the former shoved the latter. Then there was some jersey grabbing.
Dort and Fears had to be separated from both teams. The aftermath had dozens of folks forming a circle. Fears had to be dragged into the visitor’s tunnel. Dort eventually cooled off and celebrated with his teammates.
The postgame fireworks went viral on social media. The Oklahoma City Thunder collected a much-needed 104-95 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. You can watch the full scuffle below:
Always must-watch TV when teams go at it beyond basketball. The Thunder and Pelicans had some quiet beef in the fourth quarter. Before Dort and Fears, Jaylin Williams and Saddiq Bey received double technical fouls for going at it a bit.
Dort finished with 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting and eight rebounds. Fears had seven points on 3-of-9 shooting and two rebounds.
