Don’t expect the San Antonio Spurs to make any effort to pair Victor Wembanyama with Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of February’s trade deadline.

“I have been told by folks with the Spurs, ‘We are not a home for Giannis,'” ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported on Wednesday’s Hoop Collective podcast (30:05 mark). “And there’s a lot of smoke around that, going back to the summer, but everything in San Antonio is about the Wemby timeline. And this is a decade past the Wemby timeline, bringing in Giannis at his age.”

“I do not think the Spurs are a bidder,” ESPN’s Tim Bontemps added.

Earlier on Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Antetokounmpo is “ready for a new home ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline, as several teams have made aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks, who are starting to listen.”

It sounds as though the Spurs will be among the bidders, however.
