The Boston Celtics could be without Jaylen Brown when they face the Sacramento Kings on Friday, January 30. The All-Star forward is listed as doubtful on Boston’s injury report, citing left hamstring tightness and a right knee contusion. Brown is joined on the injury report by Neemias Queta, who is listed as probable, and long-term absentee Jayson Tatum, out with an Achilles tendon injury.
Should Brown miss the game, it will undoubtedly be a blow for the Celtics. He’s been playing at an MVP level all season, and is averaging 29.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, shooting 48.3% from the field and 35.5% from deep.
This will be the second meeting between the Celtics and Kings this season. Boston won its January 1 matchup 120-106 on the Kings’ home floor. Sacramento is navigating a difficult season, and currently holds a 12-36 record. Still, without Brown, the Celtics will need to be at their best if they want to add another win to their season tally. Fortunately, the Kings will be on the second night of a back-to-back, which will play in Boston’s favor.
The Celtics will make a final decision on Brown’s availability closer to tip-off. Although Joe Mazzulla and the coaching staff may lean on the side of caution, considering how important Brown is to the team’s overall goals this season.
