The Toronto Raptors are continuing to scour the market for a centre ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
They’ve been linked to several players in recent months, including 10-time All Star Anthony Davis.
But how about a more realistic trade target?
Domantas Sabonis, a 6-foot-10 forward, is expected to be dealt by the Sacramento Kings ahead of the deadline. The 29-year-old Lithuanian is averaging 15.5 points along with 11.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 17 games this season.
There were reports earlier in the month that the Raptors had expressed interest in Sabonis, and now it appears they’re a frontrunner to land the three-time All Star.
“While Washington, Phoenix and Chicago are known to have had some interest in Sabonis, league sources confirmed reports that Toronto is a legitimate possibility as we approach the deadline,” says Sam Amick of The Athletic.
Amick went on to mention that Raptors forward RJ Barrett was drafted by current Kings general manager Scott Perry in 2019, when he was GM of the New York Knicks.
Though Barrett is an important player for the Raptors, GM Bobby Webster has to give in order to get, perhaps explaining why there has been plenty of trade speculation as of late involving the 25-year-old Toronto native.
The Raptors acquired Barrett during the 2023-24 season from the New York Knicks. The former Duke star is averaging 19 points through 25 games in 2025-26, while averaging just under 30 minutes on the floor.
