BREAK IT DOWN:

(stats taken from DraftKings Sportsbook’s Stats Hub)

Lakers at Wizards First Point Scorer: Luka Doncic (+335): The first scorer market is always fun, yet it’s equally volatile. Remember, these are props that are influenced by the result of the opening tip more than almost anything else. That said, I can understand the public’s willingness to get behind Luka Doncic on Friday night in Washington, even with the guard currently listed as questionable to suit up. Doncic leads the NBA in both usage rate (37.8%) and average time of possession per game (7.8), meaning there’s a great chance that the ball will be in his hands early on. In fact, it’s probably worth noting that the All-Star’s usage rate rises to a league-high 41.7% in specifically the first quarter. Doncic also takes a league-high 39.2% of the Lakers’ first quarter field goal attempts. I think I’m noticing a trend here.

Ace Bailey 15+ Points (-129): It seems like Ace Bailey is starting to figure some stuff out at the NBA level. The former fifth-overall pick has been back in the Jazz’s starting lineup since January 14 and the rookie has wasted no time in validating that decision by Will Hardy. In the team’s past eight games, Bailey ranks second to only Keyonte George in minutes (31.3), and the Rutgers product is using that ample opportunity to average 17.1 points per contest. In the direct context of this prop, Bailey has managed at least 15 points in six games within this span of time. George and Lauri Markkanen should both be available for tonight’s tilt against the Nets — a rare occurrence for a tanking Utah squad — but it’s hard to envision Bailey slowing down his scoring pace in a matchup between two teams that rank in the bottom five of defensive rating this season.

RJ Barrett 2+ Three-Pointers Made (+130): I’m never here to yuck anybody’s yum, as the kids say, but this prop is giving me some pause. Barrett is in the midst of the most efficient shooting season of his career by effective field goal rate (.548), yet he’s not looked quite right since returning from yet another lengthy injury absence. Not only is Barrett a paltry 3-for-12 (25.0%) from three-point range in his last three starts, he’s also averaging slightly over 22 minutes per contest, as Darko Rajakovic eases his wing back into game conditioning. That’s not exactly a tantalizing situation to exploit. Yes, there’s a chance that Barrett’s time on the court ticks up a little on Friday evening. However, this isn’t a great matchup. The Magic are allowing 12.2 opponent three-pointers per game — the fourth-lowest mark in the NBA.

3-Pick Parlay

Taking three of the most-bet player props individually is always an option, but why not roll them into a parlay and get in on all the action at once? It’s a fun way to tie everything together — feel free to tag along.

Lakers at Wizards First Point Scorer: Luka Doncic (+335)

Ace Bailey 15+ Points (-129)

RJ Barrett 2+ Three-Pointers Made (+130)

Parlay Odds: +1676
