KU takes down BYU in battle of top NBA Draft prospects

  • February 1, 2026

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) – Saturday’s highly-anticipated battle between #13 BYU and #14 Kansas went the way of Darryn Peterson and the Jayhawks. KU beat BYU 90-82.

Peterson played just 20 minutes, exiting in the opening minutes of the 2nd half and staying on the Kansas bench for the rest of the game. He still scored 18 points on 6/8 shooting.

Redshirt freshman forward Bryson Tiller led the way for the Jayhawks with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Flory Bidunga, Melvin Council Jr, and Tre White also scored in double-figures for KU.

Cougars superstar freshman AJ Dybantsa scored 17 points on 6/11 shooting. Senior guard Richie Saunders led BYU with 33 points and 10 rebounds.

Kansas has now won 5-consecutive games since losing on Jan. 10 to West Virginia. Up next the Jayhawks have #11 Texas Tech on the road on Monday.
