It will be the first of two meetings on the season between the two teams, who will also meet again in L.A. in early March.
LeBron James will play vs. Knicks on Sunday night
Lakers star forward LeBron James has previously referred to Madison Square Garden as his favorite place to play, and James will get another opportunity to perform in front of fans in the world’s most famous arena on Sunday night.
James isn’t listed on the official injury report for the game against the Knicks, so he’ll be out on the court for the contest.
On the season, James has appeared in 30 games for the Lakers and posted averages of 21.9 points, 6.6 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per performance.

Fans might not want to think about it, and James might not either, but there’s a chance that Sunday night could be James’ final time playing at MSG. James’ current contract expires after the season, and he’s been non-committal about his future.
Though the possibility exists, longtime Knicks broadcaster Mike Breen doesn’t plan to dwell on it during the game broadcast, though he will mention it.
“It’s worth mentioning on the broadcast, certainly, because there is that possibility, but because there’s no definitive retirement date yet for him, thankfully, it can’t be a major focus on the game,” Breen said.
“… So it will be discussed, but not overblown, because I still have a feeling he’s going to be playing a few more years with what he’s doing right now.”

Since we don’t know what the future holds for James, we should appreciate him while we can, though Knicks fans will be forgiven for not appreciating him too much on Sunday night.
