As Oklahoma has battled with foot-deep snow and freezing temperatures, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander quietly helped out the OKC community.
Gilgeous-Alexander donated winter coats to the YWCA OKC organization. The nonprofit organization is a women’s shelter that provides help to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
The organization went on Facebook to announce the donation on Friday. The Thunder and YWCA OKC have an ongoing relationship.
“We are feeling incredibly grateful today,” YWCA OKC wrote. “Thanks to the generosity of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, YWCA OKC received an amazing donation of Canada Goose winter coats, providing warmth, dignity, and care to women who need it most. This thoughtful gift was made possible through our longtime partners, the Oklahoma City Thunder, whose continued support means so much to our mission and the people we serve. Thank you for showing up for women in such a powerful way.”
Pretty cool to see Gilgeous-Alexander remain active with the OKC community amid the meaty part of the regular-season schedule. You always see NBA players give back to their local communities. This is the latest example of that.
