On Sunday, the NBA announced that Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant was selected as a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.

Durant was voted to the team by head coaches in the Western Conference. At 37 years old, Durant is the oldest Rocket to have been named an All-Star, surpassing Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon (both 34 in 1997).

Durant now has the fourth-most All-Star selections in NBA history with 16, trailing only LeBron James (22), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (19), and Kobe Bryant (18). He was 21 years old when he made his All-Star debut in 2010 and was named All-Star Game MVP in 2012 and 2019.

Against New Orleans on Jan. 18, Durant passed Dirk Nowitzki for the sixth-most points in NBA history, and he enters this week needing 544 points to pass Michael Jordan for fifth.

Durant has scored 20-plus points 997 times in his career, and he is looking to join LeBron James, Karl Malone, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players in league history with at least 1,000 such games.

This season, Durant is averaging a team-high 26.2 points while shooting 51.0% from the floor and 40.5% from 3-point range. He has averaged at least 25 points while shooting 50.0% or better from the floor and at least 40.0% on 3-pointers seven times in his career, including each of the past three seasons.

No other player in NBA history has more than three seasons with those numbers.

With Durant as Houston’s undisputed top player and its leading scorer, the Rockets (30-17) are currently No. 4 in the Western Conference standings.

Durant is listed as out for Monday’s game at Indiana with a left ankle sprain, though considering he played through it in Saturday’s win over Dallas, it seems unlikely to be a long-term injury that could potentially jeopardize his All-Star appearance.

The 2026 All-Star Game will be played in two weeks on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Alperen Sengun, who represented Houston as an All-Star in 2025, was not named to the initial 2026 team. However, he could potentially still join as an injury replacement.
