Philadelphia 76ers center Andre Drummond has seen himself fall out of the team’s rotation. Second-year big man Adem Bona has emerged as the guy the 76ers want to use behind Joel Embiid, with Dominick Barlow also getting minutes at the position.
With this transpiring, recent reports have said that the 76ers are looking to move Drummond, who’s still one of the best glass-cleaning bigs in the league but is limited on offense.
The veteran is expected to be moved at some point before Feb. 5 trade deadline, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported, and a Western Conference contender could be where the 32-year-old is headed.
Rockets labeled as possible trade destination for Andre Drummond
After Houston Rockets center Steven Adams underwent season-ending ankle surgery in late January, the team will look for another center to back up Alperen Sengun.
Siegel wrote that the Rockets are a team that “league sources indicated have a level of interest in (Andre) Drummond.”
Adams was playing a similar role to Drummond’s in Philadelphia, being a brute on the boards while contributing a presence in the paint on defense.
Similar to Drummond’s 6.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, Adams was averaging 5.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game before suffering the season-ending setback.
Drummond picked up his $5 million player option for the 2025-26 season, so moving him would help clear up more cap space for the 76ers.
It almost seems like a perfect fit for Andre Drummond, who could definitely use a new scenario with a team that’s needing some minutes to fill.
