The New York Knicks had some iconic cheerleaders in their corner Sunday night after The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins stars Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe cheered on the NBA team from the sidelines as they battled the Los Angeles Lakers.
How to Watch
Watch the first two episodes of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins on Monday, February 23 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
Morgan, who starred on 30 Rock, is a longtime fan of the Knicks, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him in attendance in the high-stakes games against the Lakers at Madison Square Garden. Morgan and the Harry Potter icon graced the arena’s area known as Celebrity Row to witness the intense showdown, at one point even cheering on fans as they took part in a contest that involved tossing a football into the hoop for points. It’s far from uncommon to spot Morgan in one of those courtside seats.Â

Before Sunday’s game — which ended with a Knicks victory (112-100) — the NBA on NBC official Instagram account shared a fun video that featured Morgan talking about his dream of one-day seeing the Knicks take home another championship.
“There’s nothing like being a fan of the New York Knickerbockers,” Morgan began in the Instagram video before his hallmark humor kicked in. “If you sit where I sit, you can even talk trash to the other team and the refs, personally. I highly recommend it.”
Tracy Morgan jokes he’s tired of watching the Lakers win
While Morgan wouldn’t trade his Knicks jersey for the world, he was keen to admit the one hurdle of being a fan of the New York team.
“There’s only one problem with being a Knicks fan: I was four years old the last time we won a championship. A baby!” Morgan exclaimed. “We beat L.A. in ’73. But since then, I had to watch the Lakers win 11 titles!”Â

“Eleven!” Morgan reiterated in disbelief, showing some respect to Lakers icons like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquelle O’ Neil, and the late Kobe Bryant for their role in building the Lakers’ esteemed victory streak. Still, the 30 Rock icon remained hung up on the “eleven” thing, adding, “That is too many championships!”
Besides 1973 being the last time the Knicks beat the Lakers in a championship, it’s also the last time the team won the championship overall.Â
“Don’t get me wrong, we got legends, too. But this year? This year, man; it feels different. And on nights like tonight, there’s no better place to be than the world’s most famous arena,” Morgan said of Madison Square Garden. “And you know we’re going to be loud. Because we’re New Yorkers, and silence makes us uncomfortable.”
Watch Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins
It’s a different kind of sport that’s at the center of Morgan and Radcliffe’s new NBC sitcom, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, from 30 Rock executive producers Robert Carlock and Tina Fey. Morgan stars as disgraced NFL star Reggie Dinkins, a fallen-from-grace athlete whose life has been overturned by an insider betting scandal.
Reggie hires a documentary film director with a mysterious past named Arthur Tobin (Radcliffe), hoping to leverage Arthur’s recent public meltdown for his help in creating a film about his life. As both Arthur and Reggie scramble to rebuild their reputations, hilarity ensues as they struggle to determine whether or not their project is a documentary or an action-packed sports feature.
