PG/SG, Ty Jerome, Memphis Grizzlies vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $4,000
After suffering a serious calf strain in preseason, Jerome finally made his season debut this past Saturday vs. the Timberwolves. With Ja Morant (elbow), Jaren Jackson Jr. (quad) and Santi Aldama (knee) all out, Jerome started at point guard in his Grizzlies debut and finished with 32.25 FPTS in just 19.3 minutes of work. Jerome shot 6-of-12 from the field and despite the limited playing time, his utilization was outstanding, leading Memphis with a 33.3% usage rate and finishing with seven potential assists.
After a career-best season with the Cavaliers last season, in which he finished third in votes for Sixth Man of the Year, Jerome inked a three-year, $28 million deal with the Grizzlies this offseason. The veteran was slated for a big role this season before getting hurt in October and while he is likely to be limited to around just 20 minutes again Monday, Jerome should destroy his $4,000 salary in this rematch with the Timberwolves. Morant and Aldama will remain out, and Jackson Jr. is questionable. Even if the forward suits up, Jerome is still going to garner a large usage rate for this depleted Memphis team. The efficient guard is producing 1.2 FPTS per minute over the last two seasons and Jerome brings great upside for a player so cheap.
PG/SG, Jared McCain, Philadelphia 76ers at Los Angeles Clippers, $3,500
With Paul George serving a 25-game suspension, we should regularly see McCain off the bench for the 76ers going forward. In the last two games George has been inactive, McCain has produced 26.75 FPTS in 22 minutes vs. the Hornets and 18 FPTS in 16.4 minutes vs. the Pelicans this past Saturday night.
The No.16 pick from last year’s NBA draft is only going to see 15-20 minutes tonight, but that should be enough for McCain to exceed five-times value at his near minimum salary. This season, the guard is scoring 0.8 FPTS per minute with an 18.9% usage rate and in the last five he has logged at least 15 minutes, McCain is producing 16.9 FPTS per game.
