Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Timberwolves saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Monday night with a 137-128 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.
Minnesota found itself in an early hole, trailing by as many as 20 points before mounting a late rally that ultimately fell short.
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 39 points in the losing effort, while Jaden McDaniels added 29 points. Despite the individual performances, Minnesota couldn’t overcome the deficit against a hot-shooting Grizzlies squad.
The loss drops the Timberwolves to 31-20 on the season, good for fifth place in the competitive Western Conference standings. Minnesota will look to bounce back when they go to Toronto to face the Raptors on Wednesday night.
Trade Deadline Pursuit
While the Timberwolves battle on the court, the front office is making waves off it. According to ESPN, Minnesota is actively working to orchestrate a blockbuster deal that would bring Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Twin Cities.
The report indicates the Timberwolves are recruiting third and fourth teams to help facilitate the complex trade before Thursday’s deadline. However, sources suggest Minnesota remains a long shot to complete the deal.
Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP, is averaging 28 points and 10 rebounds per game this season for the Bucks. Landing the superstar would dramatically reshape Minnesota’s championship aspirations, though significant obstacles remain before the trade deadline passes.
