MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WFFT) – The top basketball player to come out of the Fort Wayne collegiate ranks is now heading for his second NBA home.
Former Purdue Fort Wayne star John Konchar is heading to the Utah Jazz as part of a major deadline-week trade.
The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly agreed to trade Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson to Utah, along with Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr.
The Grizzlies will receive Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and a trio of first-round draft picks in return.
The trade ends Konchar’s seven-season run with the team that signed him to his first NBA contract in 2019.
Signed as an undrafted free agent, Konchar has played in at least 19 games in every season since, logging 337 total games with the Grizzlies.
Konchar graduated from Purdue Fort Wayne in 2019 as the Mastodons program leader in rebounds and program runner-up in points and steals.
Purdue Fort Wayne inducted Konchar into its Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026 in January.
