The trade that sent Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday could impact the Golden State Warriors’ hopes of landing Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, the Wizards sent a Warriors’ 2030 top-20 protected pick to the Mavs in the deal. That pick was initially sent to Washington in the trade for Jordan Poole in 2023.

Since that pick is top-20 protected, Golden State could not send it to the Bucks unless it is the 20th or earlier pick. Slater noted that the Warriors are “proposing a pick-heavy package” to the Bucks in return for Antetokounmpo.

Slater added that the 2030 pick “doesn’t impact the value of their offer much” since that draft will occur when Warriors star Stephen Curry is 42 years old and the chances of Golden State being a lottery team are “very likely.”

Still, the uncertainty surrounding the pick could be a bit of a turn-off for the Bucks as they try to prepare for a future without Antetokounmpo.
