Continuing their voyage to a hopeful second straight NBA championship, the Oklahoma City Thunder added a new face at the 2026 NBA trade deadline. They acquired Jared McCain from the Philadelphia 76ers in a buy-low move.
The Thunder hope McCain can return to his old self. A torn meniscus and thumb had halted any momentum he had to start his NBA career. He’s been buried on the bench all season. The 21-year-old could be an instant bucket-getter for OKC and one of its best outside shooters.

After the Thunder fell short of an upset in their 116-106 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, a couple of McCain’s new teammates talked about his addition. Here’s what they had to say:
Jaylin Williams
“Great player, of course. Great shooter. I honestly haven’t watched a lot of 76ers games this season, so I don’t know what this season looks like. But I know from last season he was a frontrunner for rookies or whatever it was. I know he’s a great player. Great chemistry. I’m getting tagged in a bunch of stuff saying we’re gonna make TikToks together. I know he’s a fun guy to be around from what I’ve heard around the league. Sometime in Vegas, me, him and Wiggs were in an elevator together and we were just chatting. He was a cool dude.”
Kenrich Williams
“I think he’ll bring some shooting to the team. I haven’t watched a lot of him but I know he’s a shooter. I think he’s a scorer as well. He’ll fit right in with our team. So excited to have him.”
