The Brooklyn Nets did not make a splash move prior to Thursday’s trade deadline as the best player they acquired was guard Ochai Agbaji from the Toronto Raptors. What Brooklyn did prior to Thursday’s deadline mostly centered around who the team decided to cut, but it looks like the Nets‘ new trade acquisition should be ready to suit up for their new team for the first time.

The Nets announced on Friday that Agbaji and former Boston Celtics forward Josh Minott are available for Saturday’s game against the Washington Wizards. While both players are not on the injury report, that doesn’t guarantee that head coach Jordi Fernandez will play either of them given that the rotation is mostly intact outside of guard Cam Thomas, who was waived on Thursday.

“I think it’s just an opportunity to bring in a very talented player into the group, I’m excited to get to coach him,” Fernandez said of Agbaji prior to Thursday’s 118-98 loss at the Orlando Magic. Agbaji, 25, averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 18.5% from three-point land in his 42 appearances with the Raptors this season.

Minott, who came to the Nets in a trade with the Celtics, is another player that could see some playing time for Fernandez if he chooses to get in that direction at some point over the rest of the season. Minott, 23, is in the midst of his best season in the NBA as he’s averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 50.7% from the floor and 44.2% from deep.

The good news for the Nets is that forward Michael Porter Jr. and center Nic Claxton remain on the team to be the focal points of the team after both players were rumored to be traded prior to Thursday’s deadline. The Wizards have seven players listed as out, including their new trade acquisition in forward Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks. So, Brooklyn could be getting a Washington team without their usual depth as the Nets are riding a three-game losing streak.
